The government has put forward a new Net Zero Plan in response to a High Court Judgement in July 2022 which ruled that its plan to reach Net Zero by 2050 was not detailed enough.
The Green Party, among others has highlighted its shortcomings.
On the BBC News channel, Adrian Ramsay, Co Leader of the Green Party was asked to respond to the government’s strategy: “There is an absence of the measures needed to accelerate renewable energy. For example, where was a lifting of the ban on onshore wind? Where was the plan to require solar panels and heat pumps in all new buildings? Where was the plan for a mass insulation scheme across the country that would benefit people in terms of reducing their bills, keeping their homes warm whilst tackling carbon emissions and creating jobs?
