The Climate Change Committee (CCC) has examined the government’s Third National Adaption Programme (NAP3) and found the plan to be inadequate for making the UK resilient to the increasing effects of extreme weather.
The CCC found that NAP3 was mostly based on existing policy or mechanisms, which ignore more than half of the short-term actions to address the urgent risks from extreme weather as identified by the latest risk assessment.
“Other nations are increasingly showing the way on elements of an effective adaptation strategy. The UK should learn from them” (page 11)
