Jan is the Broadland Green Party Coordinator and a Parish Councillor. In September 2021, along with colleague Eleanor Laming, he was elected as one of the first Green Party councillors on Broadland District Council.

Jan has lived in Brundall Ward, Broadland, for over 27 years. He has had a varied career in the public, private and charitable sectors. As a public health engineer, and more recently a local government officer with Great Yarmouth Borough Council and then Norfolk County Council, Jan has always been concerned to contribute in a positive way to a fair, happy, and sustainable society.
