At the Broadland District Council Planning Committee on 24th February, the Conservative dominated Planning Committee voted through a planning application (20200202) for a new development on prime agricultural land outside the agreed Joint Core Strategy and local plan. What is the point of spending a huge amount of time and effort on developing local plans with residents and parish councils when they can be by-passed by a few Conservative councillors on the planning committee? All the local parish councils in the area were against the development. It included the carrot of a medical centre but it is in the wrong place on the edge of Rackheath down a narrow lane with minimal access to public transport. Someone, somewhere, is making a tidy profit from this development at the expense of our green spaces and all the time infilling between our Broadland villages. Shameful decision.
